ABOUT
They make it work, they deliver with punchy, impactful theatre, and they cast with strength…’”
Founded in 1993, Opera Project has established an enviable reputation as one of the UK’s leading opera production companies whose work includes performances and residencies across a range of theatres and at a number of the country’s major opera and music festivals. Presenting exceptional singers from the UK and abroad, productions are noted for the quality of the casting, the calibre of the orchestra, the stylish and dynamic stagings and the brilliant and often specially conceived English translations.
Opera Project played a leading role in establishing two of the UK’s leading opera festivals: If Opera and West Green House Opera. The company has collaborated over many years with Longborough Festival Opera and made annual visits to Tobacco Factory Theatres in Bristol from 2003 – 2019 where co-productions with the theatre were staged ‘in-the-round’ to sell-out audiences and critical acclaim. Following the COVID-19 pandemic the company returned to Tobacco Factory Theatres in October 2024 to begin a Mozart / Da Ponte trilogy, beginning with The Marriage of Figaro. This was followed in 2025 with Così fan tutte, and the company will be back at Tobacco Factory Theatres from 23 September to 3 October 2026 with the final dramatic masterpiece of the trilogy, Don Giovanni.
